As I had posted before, this is my recovery quilt so there is lots of symbolism on this quilt. The dog symbolizes my awesome trainer Kyle who was so supportive through my treatment and continues to be there. The beehive is the Gray Cancer Center and their fabulous staff unfortunately it is always buzzing with activity.
The dancing queen with the wine bottle next to the flagpole (which reads Think Pink - Save the Tatas!) is ME! Happy to have my wine back that was a real sacrifice.
The black crow is my DH, who watched over everything and made sure the house and our life ran smoothly during that turbulent year.
My backing was made of all the bandanas I wore to the gym after my hair fell out from the chemo. They were given to me by Kyle and my hubby.
and a view of some of the quilting. It is sooo great to have this done and it will hang in my sewing room once I put on the hanging sleeves.
I also did some scrap management this weekend. My scrap bucket was getting full so I pressed and cut everything and then decided to cut up some random muslin scraps into 6.5 squares. I am currently making diagonal string blocks. I have seen some awesome quilts made with them and decided to make this my "mindless" sewing project for now. They are addicting!
I'll be back midweek with some other unrelated stuff! Hope your weekend was productive.

Awesome and so pleased you are getting back to normal after a turbulent time.
A great quilt to make such an important time in your life. Love it!
It's so pretty despite the difficult time. I like how it shows positive attitude, courage and strength during your battle. Well done, and here's to your continued good health.
beautiful quilt
from your post I gather you had a difficult 2012.. I am praying 2013 is a great for you!
The bandanas for the backing was an inspired choice - and the quilt itself is an inspiration to all of us.

Wow, such a terrific and meaningful quilt to celebrate with. Celebrating your recovery! Sorry, I can only raise a glass of Pepsi One--I don't care for wine :)
