As you saw from my previous post, my nephew and his new bride headed to Italy via British Airways on Monday. Here it is Thursday and THEY HAVE BEEN WITH NO LUGGAGE!!
Apparently it was misplaced at some point from JFK to London onto Italy. British Airways doesn't seemed too concerned. My nephew and his bride are really in pickle on a limited budget as newlyweds and without clothes etc.
Any suggestions, ideas, would be greatly welcomed! I told my sister if there was an answer out there, my girls in blogland would know!!
I feel so terrible for them!! Neither has ever been out of the country before and on their honeymoon!!

It's very sad, but this seems to becoming the "average" travel experience these days. My co-worker went to London (from Richmond, VA US) a few weeks ago and didn't get his luggage for 2 days. It seems that everyone has a horrid travel story these days and the airlines do not care. If you get angry with them, then don't care, then can have you arrested. It's too late for them, but anyone traveling should always travel with the basic toiletries (in a baggy of course) and a change of clothes on the plane.
I feel for you nephew to have this happen on their honeymoon. The best that will happen is that they will have a story to tell and they will have to break down and buy some clothes.
It's probably a bit late, but did they get the traveler's insurance? Usually lost luggage is covered & you can get $$ to buy whatever/wherever...
I'd probably look for some second hand stores to tide me over but I don't know if there are many of them in Italy. They will have some good stories to tell their children I suppose but it may be hard to see the humor in it now.
I can't think of any advice to offer them except badger the hell out of BA - hope they get something sorted soon Italy isn't a cheap place to start clothes shopping
No advice, except to agree with Anne that they will need to pester BA like mad. My friend and his family lost their luggage on route from the UK to Barcelona - took a couple of months but they did get compensation (the luggage never turned up though).
The airlines usually offer some sort of compensation to cover necessary items while you are waiting. The allowance is different from airline to airline. I'm not sure how much the airlines OFFER it up, but there are provisions on the websites saying how much they are liable for. Have them call BA and complain.
They are on their honeymoon, what do they need clothes for? Sorry, you just set me up for that one. I think the good news is that Italy is fairly inexpensive, and its warm so you don't need a lot of clothes - buy a outfit and wash overnight. Remember you can always negotiate prices with the vendors, and this seems like a good reason for a big price drop!
Oh my worst fear! My advise is also a little late. I almost always carry my luggage onto the plane, I am so worried that might happen to me. As a consequence on my last two trips is that I did have to launder things more often, but I guess its better than only what I had on when I arrived.
I hope it works out for them, I really hope they can laugh about it in a few years.
