Weekend Update

First, let me say that I am having a great time reading everyone's resolutions. We are an ambitious bunch of bloggers! You ladies are very inspiring both as quilters and as people.

This weekend, I worked on a UFO, well actually two which I have decided to marry. The star blocks were made back in 89-90(?). This is some of the first piecing I did. To say that the block sizes were inconsistent is an understatement. Yipes!! The blocks were 6"(supposedly). I decided to add borders to them to make them bigger and then I cut them on an angle so they are 8.5". I think they look like snowflakes. The center piece is the beginnings of a wall hanging I started for Alex about 4 years ago. I've decided to combine them to make a lap quilt for him to take with him wherever the snow flies. I'm also going to add the names of all the places he has snowboarded around the center and in the outer borders. I' m doing the letters "Lazy Gal" style.

I also did some brainstorming and sketching for my TIF project. Here is a picture of my raw materials.

My idea came to me while watching the Rose Bowl parade on New Year's Day. I'll be posting more on this after next weekend. I'll just say it is fiber based and 3D.

Still plodding away on my machine quilting. I will say that the last couple of days I did more sewing than unsewing so that's progress.! I hope to have that finished by the weekend and ready for the binding. Hope to have more to show later in the week!

I found your blog via the TIF challenge -- good wishes for that! But I just wanted to say your skier is fabulous -- the "jaunty" blocks really make the piece! MaryjoO

That quilt looks wonderful. The stars are better than they would be if they were straight, and perfect to go with the skier. A terrific example of fortunate coincidence, isn't it?

What a great quilt . . . it'll be perfect as a go-along on those snowboarding adventures.
Is that some wool roving, I spy? I have been experimenting a little of that lately. Fun and a touch addictive *s* Enjoy!

I love the stars settings. They really do look like snowflakes.

Can't wait to see what you do with the roving.
