A Good Start on my Resolutions

2008 got off to a good start the past couple of days. I decided that I needed to manage my time better when I was in my sewing room. I am easily sidetracked by other "shiny objects". LOL. The challenges and swaps I am doing are time sensitive. The Take It Further challenge is monthly, as in 30 days to come up with an idea and bring it to a final product, so there is not a lot of time to putz around. So I decided what I wanted to accomplish and how much time I had. Then I turned on the old kitchen timer. I spent 30 minutes browsing books, brainstorming ideas. and setting up a timetable to complete the Take It Further challenge. I then spent 45 minutes machine quilting a charity quilt, a bit more ripping than sewing but progress was made. Here's a picture of what happens if you leave a quilt on the frame unattended. It turns into a kitty hammock!! That's the lovely Miss Holly, always looking for a place to nap.

Next, I worked on some wonky letters, Tonya-style, for the UFO I pulled. I didn't get lots done but it was a start. I put together some hand projects in a basket to have ready to work on when watching TV with my hubby and I've also started a journal and set up a weekly calendar to track my progress and keep me on schedule. I really felt like I got my quilting mojo going! Hopefully, this will continue. And I've already met my goal of blogging something quilty once a week~ woohoo!!
In all honesty, I was not sad to see 2007 go. It was a tough year at work which of course affected my home life and health. I'm ready for the new year!

Wow, I didn't know you could use your sewing machine this way. Could you post some pictures of the frame and set-up of the sewing machine? Where did you buy this construction? Is this an easier way of quilting a big quilt?
Love to read some more about this contraption :)

A kitty hammock *s* It is a kitty's world, isn't it?
I need to get in my room and clear off my Grace frame - right now it's sporting wrapping paper. Did you know the rails make really great storage for such things?
Happy New Year!

I love your organization! Good luck. Like the kitty too. We lost ours last week and are still in mourning.

I'm late, but I agree, I'm okay with 2007 being over. Looking forward to seeing your TIF progress.
