Breaking News!!! Mystery Quilt is DONE!!
DONE!! FINIS!! COMPLETE!!
As many of you may remember, this was a UFO that was started 4 years ago and became the infamous Mystery Quilt from Hell. I would pull it out, try to remember where I left off, do a little more and shove it in the closet again. I worked on this consistently this fall as a PIG for my guild's PIG roast but didn't finish it in time. WELL, it is done with label! I was going to give it to my SIL but DH really likes it so it will live at our house after all. Sure feels good to have this monkey off my back.
And I have been doing other things!! This is a little knitted skirt for my fairy goddaughter, Bridie, for Christmas. A skein of Chenille yarn and some fun fur at the bottom! She is going to love it. Made her a scarf to match!
And Finally, these are the wool christmas ornaments that I cut and brought to work on in Houston. Now complete and ready for my tree. I had the idea of making a bunch of them as gifts but didn't like working with the tiny pieces. They are cute and will be a nice addition to my tree.
The last picture is a close up of the snowman.
I am still working on my super secret guild challenge quilt. It is now in the quilting stage and will be ready for the presentation on Tuesday for our guild's Christmas party. I will post a picture on Wednesday.
I have been visiting everyone and loving the pictures of your Christmas projects and decorations. You gals are sewwwww inspiring!! Our house is just about done. We are decorating the tree in our living room today and cutting the tree for our den to be decorated tomorrow. We will have a total of EIGHT trees in our house when we are done ranging in size from a foot to 8 1/2 feet!! It takes about 2 weeks to get all the decorating done and we leave most of it up til 3 Kings Day in January. I want to be able to say it's for the kids, but we only have one, who is 20, and there are no grandkids yet. It's really for my DH. He has an EXTREME love of all things Christmas. (Please don't tell all the guys in the office !) He is really a kid at heart which is what I love about him. I'll post a couple of pictures of our trees next week.
Til then, quilt til you wilt and from DH, HO! HO! HO!

Hooray - well done for finishing the Mystery Quilt - in years to come maybe you'll grow to be quite fond of it! Love those little wool decorations, but I know what you mean about working with tiny pieces - it's not for me either.
Love the little mitten, and the tree ornaments too. Folk arty - what I really love. I just can't imagine decorating that many trees! Makes me tired just thinking about it - and I love all things Christmas!
I'm DEFINITELY coming to your house for the Christmas Holidays!!! Please leave the back door unlocked cause I don't know what time I'll be arriving...LOL 8 TREES---I LOVE IT!!! Your ornaments are adorable!
Eight trees in the house???? WOW, I will only have one set up in my livingroom. And it has to be a small but high tree. I have not room for a big one. I am a christmas person too, so I understand your DH very good.
I love the mitten-- You've been busy. I guess I'm a control freak--- never liked the idea of a mystery quilt, but yours is beautiful.
You have now got me truly inspired, I'm going to go and finish my decorating. I like the quilt from hell, what's a PIG?
The Mystery quilt is great - I just love it when my DH takes to a particular quilt - he is one of my biggest quilt fans and always encourages me to buy the fabrics/supplies I need to keep busy. And Wow, that is alot of trees! In Austria we don't put up the tree until Christmas Eve and then it comes right down before New Year. Your ornaments are cute!
Cheers!
Evelyn
Yeah for finishing up the mystery. I love those little ornaments. Can see why you decided to not gift them *s*
8 trees -- good for you. My goal is to have a tree for every room in the house. I bet your home is oh so festive.
Ya know the one thing I like about mystery quilts - they make you use something other than cream, black, or white for the background!
I love the idea of the Guilds PIG Roast - what a great name! Quilt looks great, and it's going to stay home with you. How nice.
Wow 8 trees! That's a bunch!
Your mystery quilt is really pretty. It is definitely worth the effort, although I can see how working with those triangles would be really difficult. Your wool ornaments are just adorable.
What is 3 Kings Day?
