Tuesday was our guild picnic,
and Wednesday,
THIS AMERICAN GIRL HAD A DATE WITH MR. PETTY!
I'm still recuperating from the late night! He didn't come on stage til 9:45. Steve Winwood from Traffic was the opener. I felt like I was 18 again. He and the band still sound great. The average age of the audience was surprisingly mid-20's. It was sort of cool to see Tom cast his spell over a new generation. The audience knew the hits, but the deep cuts were for the Baby Boomers in the crowd! At one point, Tom said he was playing a song from 1979 (Damn the Torpedoes) and I looked at my hubby and said "Half this crowd wasn't even born in 1979!!"
So, summer is really here with my first outdoor concert under my belt. Got my Petty fix for the summer! Next up, Toby Keith, then Tina Turner!
Now back to my regular programmed life.

*gasp* With a concert like that on the agenda, who would want to quilt. I am just a little envious *s*
Sounds like a fun summer concert schedule. Oh how I wish I had the time and money. Good for you girl. I like concerts when the young kids don't know the songs, yes there was music before them and very good music to boot.
Mark me as envious! Those old guys can still cut it, can't they?
I've never been able to see Tina Turner in person--how lucky you are!
now even I know him!!!-I was 10 in 1979!
He also did a bit in the Travelling wiburies, am i right, i loved their short period of life,-great big box of stuff!! tracey
I am so glad you had fun! It is surprising the following is so young, but neat!
Oh my gosh, Tom Petty is my absolute fave!!! He is so fun to see in concert, lucky you getting to go. His tickets sold out so fast for his Indy concert this year that we are going to miss seeing him in 2008.
