Have you had your daily dose of PQP today???

I just want to thank everyone for their wonderful comments about my recent revelation. It seems that lots of us are having difficulty squeezing "PQP" (pure quilting pleasure) into our busy days. Just based on the short time that I have been rising early to get my daily dose of PQP, I can tell you that my days feel better. As Finn so accurately put it, those 60 minutes of PQP give me "something to lean on" during the difficult parts of the day.

Ladies, I can't say enough about how important it is for all of us to get our daily recommended dose of PQP . I know that we are all trying to take better care of our bodies with exercise and diet but remember PQP is medicine for the creative part of a quilter's soul.

This morning, I was able to get a dozen pillowcase parts cut for our community service project which my guild is doing on Monday night. We are assembling pillowcases out of novelty and kiddie fabric for " The Hole in the Wall Gang " summer camp which is located here in Connecticut. This camp was started by Paul Newman and is for kids 7-15 who have cancer. Each camper gets a pillowcase, which I think is used as a duffel bag of sorts to collect their gear. At any rate, at the end of their camping session, each child gets to take the pillowcase home as a momento of their stay.

It sure was great to start my day not only doing something I love but being able to help others and BUST THAT STASH at the same time. A quilting WIN-WIN-WIN!!

How awesome you are!!! My Dad always says," Have you ever noticed how the harder some people work the luckier they get!?!?!?" I believe you do get out of life what you put into it.... You should be getting the best,,, Have fun.

I love the pillowcase plan - you are right, win - win - win! I really like most every thing about quilting, but I do feel a special joy when I am making something that is going to be donated - it's like sending a secret hug into the world. You never know when or where it will be felt, just that it will.

I love the fun pillowcases. I gave some halloween ones to my nieces and nephews in N.M. and they really have fun with them.

PQP...I may have a sign made for my quilting room!

It's heartening to know I'm not the only one who gets a nervous tic if I don't pick up a needle or press the sewing machine foot pedal at least once in the day - there are many different forms of therapy in this world - quilting is mine!

I did dark novelty pillowcases for the troops over in Iraq and the plan was for them to use them to cover their pillows because they couldn't change pillowcases often at all. Later we found out that they were hanging the pillowcases on the walls and pinning pictures to them to brighten their spaces instead of sleeping on them!

Do you need some fabrics?

Love your new acronym - PQP! I have to remember that one. Do you suppose I could call in sick to work and tell them I couldn't come in because I'd been diagnosed with a lack of PQP in my system and needed to stay home until I built it back up?

What a great idea to get up early to enjoy what you love doing. I'll have to keep that in mind.

PQP is a great idea! I get mine very late at night when all the kids are finally asleep and DH is busy making zzzzz's. Of course, only if I am not passing out, LOL. I try to get up early, but I find even if I do manage to wake up, I have a hard time getting up, LOL! Thank you for your prayers for my son, he is home safe, thank goodness!

Hi Annie, thank you for such a lovely mention..*VBS* I really DID learn something in the process of becoming an elder...LOL

So very happy for your 'lightbulb' moment, and that the rewarda are beyond your expectations! Love the pillow case project...time well spent in my opinion. Joy comes in many forms. Quilters that might not want to make a quilt for strangers' kids, might be willing to make a pillowcase. Big hugs girl friend, Finn

Love your January journal quilt and the kitties! Just getting around to 'visiting everyone' after a very busy week and a show in Athens, Georgia. Got to unpack the vans but it's cold here so I'm waiting until it warms up a bit!

Latest finish and a preview

I am taking this one with me to Florida for Cayden who is now ON THE MOVE. Just started walking! Not sure why the pictures are so pinky! I ...
